Using Log Anything

How do I create a tracker?

Tap + at the top of the Trackers screen (or Create Tracker if you don’t have any yet). Give it a name, choose a symbol and a colour, then tap Create. You can have as many trackers as you like, and names don’t have to be unique.

How do I log an event?

Tap the round + next to a tracker on the Trackers screen, or tap Log Now on a tracker’s screen. The current date and time are saved straight away and the button briefly shows a checkmark. Tapping the tracker’s name opens its history instead of logging.

I logged by mistake. How do I undo it?

Tap Undo in the banner that appears at the bottom of the screen. Undo removes exactly the entry you just created, nothing else. If the banner has gone, open the tracker, swipe the entry left and tap Delete, or tap the entry and choose Delete Entry.

How do I change the time of an entry, or add one I forgot?

Open the tracker and tap any entry to change its date and time, then tap Save. To record something that happened earlier, tap Add Entry. Entries can be in the past, even before you created the tracker, but not in the future.

What do “This week” and “This month” count?

Entries in the current calendar week and month, using your iPhone’s region settings (for example, weeks start on Monday in the UK). They aren’t rolling seven- or thirty-day totals.

How do I rename, recolour or delete a tracker?

Open the tracker and tap Edit. Changing the name, symbol or colour keeps all of its history. Delete Tracker at the bottom removes the tracker and all of its entries after you confirm. This can’t be undone.

Widgets

How do I add a widget?
  1. Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, then tap Edit → Add Widget.
  2. Search for Log Anything.
  3. Choose the small widget (one tracker) or the medium widget (up to four), then tap Add Widget.
  4. To choose trackers, touch and hold the widget and tap Edit Widget.
Does tapping a widget open the app?

No. Tapping Log Now on the small widget, or a tile on the medium widget, logs the event without opening the app. The widget shows Logged for a few seconds. To correct a widget entry, open the app and edit it in the tracker’s history. iOS may ask you to unlock your iPhone first.

Can a widget ask before it logs?

Yes. In the app, open Settings and turn on Confirm Widget Taps. The first tap on a widget then shows Tap again to log, and only a second tap within a few seconds logs. It’s off by default. Accidental double taps are always ignored: a second tap on the same tracker within two seconds doesn’t log twice.

My widget says “Tracker unavailable”.

The tracker it was set to has been deleted. Touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget and choose another tracker. Widgets never switch to a different tracker on their own.

My widget hasn’t updated yet.

iOS decides exactly when widgets refresh, so a rename or a change made in the app can take a moment to appear. Your entries are saved as soon as you tap, whatever the widget is showing. Opening the app always shows the latest data.

Purchases

Is Log Anything free?

Yes. Log Anything is free with up to two trackers, with everything else included: logging, history, widgets and CSV export. If you need more, the one-time Unlimited Trackers purchase lets you create as many as you like. There’s no subscription and no ads.

How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?

Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought it with.

What happens to my trackers if I don’t buy it?

Nothing. Every tracker you already have keeps working, including logging, widgets and export. The purchase only affects creating a third tracker or more. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data

Where is my data stored?

Only on your iPhone. There’s no account and no cloud sync, and nothing is sent to us. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings (the gear icon on the Trackers screen) → Export Data as CSV, then choose where to save or send the file. The export includes every tracker, including empty ones, and every entry, with times in UTC. It opens in Numbers, Excel and Google Sheets.

How do I move my data to a new iPhone?

Restore your new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of your old one; Log Anything’s data comes across with your other app data. Keep an exported CSV as an extra copy if you like. The app can’t import CSV files.

The app says it can’t open my data.

This can happen just after your iPhone restarts, before it has been unlocked. Unlock your iPhone and tap Try Again. The app never deletes or resets your data to recover from an error. If the message persists, please contact us.

Can I sync between devices?

Not at the moment. Log Anything is an iPhone app that keeps your data on one device.
